Shifts can be added or edited by going to Company → Shifts → Shifts.

To learn the difference between Shift Groups and Shifts, refer to the Shift Groups vs. Shifts guide.

Each Shift Group can have its own rounding rules (guide)

If rounding is needed, you can select the appropriate rules for:

  • In/Out
  • Outside
  • Lunch
  • Break

You can also enable Shift Differentials for the Shift Group if needed (guide)

Once you have finished configuring the Shift Group, click OK to save your changes.

Adding a Shift to a Shift Group

In the bottom section, you can add shifts that belong to the selected Shift Group. Shifts within the same Shift Group share the group's settings, such as rounding rules.

Each Shift Group must have at least one shift.

Click Add at the bottom of the page to create a shift.

Shift Settings

Shift Code
Enter a unique code for the shift.

Start / Stop
Enter the scheduled start and stop times for the shift. These fields are not available for FLEX shifts.

Cutoff
The Cutoff setting is used for employees assigned to a Floating Shift, where the employee can work any shift within the Shift Group.

The system uses the employee's clock-in time to determine which shift they should be assigned to. If the clock-in time is after the Cutoff time, the system checks the next shift in the Shift Group.

The Cutoff time must be between the current shift's Start and Stop times and cannot be later than the Start time of the next shift.

Access Restrictions (Start / Stop)
These fields are only available when Enable device access restrictions from shifts is enabled in General Settings and the Device Time Restrictions module is active.

This setting allows you to define when an employee is allowed to access the device based on their assigned shift.

For example, you can use the Access Restrictions to limit device access to a specific period around an employee's scheduled shift.

These settings are not used for FLEX shifts or FLOATER schedules.

Lunches / Breaks
This field is automatically calculated after lunches and breaks are added. It displays the combined duration of the employee's lunches and breaks and cannot be manually edited.

Total
Displays the total working time for the shift.

For a fixed shift, the system calculates the Total by subtracting the lunch and break time from the Gross shift duration.

For a flexible shift, the Total is entered manually.

Assign Worked Hours To
These options are primarily used for employees who work across midnight, where the clock-in and clock-out occur on different dates.

  • Clock In Date: Hours are assigned to the day the employee clocked in.
  • Clock Out Date: Hours are assigned to the day the employee clocked out.

Lunch SG Max
Defines the maximum lunch duration when Swipe and Go is being used.

Break SG Max
Defines the maximum break duration when Swipe and Go is being used.

Note: The Lunch SG Max and Break SG Max settings are unavailable when Use Swipe and Go is disabled in General Settings.

You can then add lunches and breaks in the lower section. Follow this guide to set those up.

After configuring all those settings, press Ok to save the shift. You will then need to add the shift to an employee's schedule for those setting to take effect. Follow this guide to schedule shifts for an employee.
