Lunch Restriction

In many organizations, employees are required to take a full 30-minute lunch break, and it's crucial to prevent early clock-ins. The Iris-100 offers a seamless solution for this by communicating with other Iris devices within the same system setup, ensuring synchronization across multiple locations.

Once an employee clocks out for lunch, they cannot clock back in early, even if they attempt to use another Iris device on-site. This feature is designed to maintain consistency and compliance, so there are no exceptions—ensuring all breaks are fully taken.

Please note, this restriction only applies when using the punch menu with the "Out for Lunch" and "In from Lunch" actions. The "Swipe and Go" feature which allows employees to clock in without specifying their action will not work for this lunch lockout feature.

How to set up:

There are several settings that we need to enable in the account:

Go to General Settings > Devices > Enable Lunch/Break Short Duration Denial

To set a default lunch restriction to a specific device Navigate to Devices > Configure Devices > Edit > Advanced

This will set a 30 min restriction inside the clock for all employees who use the device. To set rules for specfic employees/shifts follow the below steps.

To configure the deny short lunch option on the employee shifts, go to the shifts configuration Company > Shifts > Shifts > Edit Shift > Edit Lunch.

Go to the Employee’s Schedule screen, click on “Edit this week” to bring up the schedule of the whole week, or click on a specific day on the calendar > Enable Deny Short Lunch/Break Duration

The lunch duration of the employee will be determined by the shift that they have with the lunch settings defined in there.
