Door Access Control Setup – FR2000

The AMGtime FR2000 supports door access control using its built-in relay output, allowing you to control electronic door locks (maglocks, strikes, etc.) based on employee verification.

Before You Start

Make sure the following are in place:

  • FR2000 is powered and mounted

  • Device is connected to your network (Ethernet or Wi-Fi)

  • Employees are enrolled on the device (face, fingerprint, badge, or PIN)

  • A compatible door lock and power supply are installed

The FR2000 uses a relay output (NO/NC) to trigger door unlock events, so proper wiring to the lock hardware is required.

Step 1: Wire the Door Lock

This is the most critical part.

  • Connect the door lock (electric strike or maglock) to the FR2000 relay:

    • COM (Common)

    • NO (Normally Open) or NC (Normally Closed) depending on your lock type

  • Use an external power supply for the lock (do NOT power the lock directly from the clock)

Typical setup:

  • Maglock → NC (fails safe)

  • Electric strike → NO (fails secure)

If you're unsure, this is usually handled by an installer or low-voltage technician.

Step 2: Enable Access Control on the Device

On the FR2000:

  1. Press the Menu (6 dots icon)

  2. Authenticate as Admin

  3. Go to:

    • Access Control > Access Control Options

  4. Configure:

    • Door Sensor Type > NO (Normally Open) or NC (Normally Closed) depending on the wiring

    • Door Lock Delay (Unlock Duration) (e.g., 3–10 seconds)

Step 3: Assign Users Access

Users must be enrolled and authorized.

  • Go to: Menu → User Management

  • Add or edit a user

  • Ensure they have:

    • A valid credential (face, fingerprint, badge, or PIN)

The FR2000 supports multiple verification methods for access control.

Verification Methods

  • Go to: User Management > Edit User > Verification Mode

  • Choose the required authentication method, such as:

    • Fingerprint

    • Face recognition

    • Card

    • PIN/password

    • Or any combination (e.g., Face + PIN, Finger + Card)

Examples:

  • Restrict access to specific hours (e.g., 9 AM – 5 PM)

  • Require multi-factor verification (e.g., Face + PIN)

Step 4: Set Access Rules (Optional)

Depending on your setup, you can control when doors unlock:

Time Zones (Access Schedules)

  • Go to: Access Control > Time Schedule to create time zones (e.g., business hours only).

  • Assign to a user:
User Management > Edit User > Access Control Role > Time Period

Step 5: Test the Door

  1. Present a valid credential (face/fingerprint/card)

  2. Confirm:

    • Device verifies the user

    • Relay triggers

    • Door unlocks for the set duration

If the device verifies but the door doesn’t open, the issue is usually wiring or power.

Best Practices

  • Use a separate power supply for door locks

  • Set a reasonable unlock duration (3–5 seconds typical)

  • Always enroll at least one admin user for access to settings

  • Test with multiple users before going live
